Here's how publicity images from high profile studio movies are normally released: An onset photographer is hired who takes thousands and thousands of photos all throughout normal filming and on designated photo shoot days. Those are then fed into a process where the producers pick and choose what they want to share. Then the actor/actress in question's people take a look at what's left and say yay or nay. Then the marketing department takes that and Photoshops the hell out of it, gets it absolutely perfect, and then the studio will typically premiere it through a high profile outlet like Entertainment Weekly.
X-Men: Days of Future Past director Bryan Singer just takes pictures of people on set and posts them on Twitter.
He's already given us a glimpse of Beast and now he's teased a full-body look at Halle Berry rocking a new outfit as Storm. It's about as far from the normal publicity image as you can get, but we're glad that Singer is giving fans this kind of immediate access behind the scenes. We definitely prefer this kind of image to the unauthorized set pics that are so popular these days.
As for Berry herself, any thoughts on the changes? Like the new outfit?
