I called Filmmaker J.T. Petty a “director to keep an eye on” after seeing his western horror film The Burrowers a few years back. Well, now he’s back – and the latest red band trailer for his upcoming Hellbenders looks sure to please.
Here’s the official plot breakdown for the feature:
“The film follows the exploits of the Brooklyn-based Augustine Interfaith Order of Hellbound Saints, known as Hellbenders, a team of lewd and blasphemous ministers who live in a constant state of debauchery in order to be damnation-ready so they can drag the worst of demons back to Hell. When one of the foulest demons possess one of their own and threatens the existence of both Brooklyn and the world, the Hellbenders’ faith is tested.”
The new clip is crass, vulgar, and hilarious – I love seeing Clancy Brown as a foul-mouthed man of God. We’ll find out if the whole film is as good as this clip when Hellbenders hits select theatres and VOD on October 18. Until then, enjoy this trailer – which is NOT SAFE FOR WORK.
