Soon we'll see how producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski have resurrected The Lone Ranger for a contemporary audience, with Johnny Depp as Tonto and Armie Hammer as the masked gunman leading the way. The legendary duo will band together to fight greed and corruption. The original American Old West icons appeared in several film serials, as well as on television and radio. A lot of critics have argued that these characters have no relevance in today's cinematic landscape, but that didn't stop Walt Disney from trying.
A new trailer for the film is heavy on the action, emphasizing that this isn't your grandpa's Lone Ranger. We're hoping to see more humor, similar to what Verbinski's Pirates of the Caribbean series brought to the table. One of our favorite underrated actors, Iron Man 3 and World War Z's James Badge Dale, will play the Ranger's older brother, Dan Reid. In a recent interview, Dale told us that Dan has "more of a 'just shoot them in the head' attitude than his brother." Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, Ruth Wilson, and Helena Bonham Carter also star.
Watch the new trailer for The Lone Ranger, and head to theaters on July 3 for bigger adventures.
