'Transformers 4' First Look: Check Out Optimus Prime and the New Autobots

If you’re into robots that transform into gaudily painted sports cars and semis, then we’ve got just the thing to get your Wednesday off to a roaring start – new Transformer 4 photos! Buckle your seat belt, kids.

Michael Bay and company are hard at work on the fourth installment in the wildly popular franchise (due out in June 2014), so that means the next twelve months are likely to be filled with lots of pictures of things exploding, giant robots, and sexy cars. Today we get that cavalcade of awesomeness started with several early production photos of the “robots in disguise” in their alternate modes.

Transformers 4 Bugatti

First up, a horribly painted Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse. Apparently the early buzz is that this is the new form of Drift. The sleek and sexy super fast sports car will go from zero to 60 in under 3 seconds. It’s got a 1,200 horsepower engine and a top speed of 255 mph (with the roof on). If you run it full throttle, Motortrend reports the Grand Sport Vitesse will drain a 26 gallon tank of gas in roughly eight minutes. We suspect big oil wishes everyone drove one of these beasts.

So, what does a car like this cost? The Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse will set you back over $2.4 million. If you’ve got that kind of cash, let’s hope you pick a better color scheme than black with turquoise blue accents.

Transformers 4 Corvette

Next we move on to our second vehicle. It’s a redesign of an American classic, even if it’s not nearly as exotic as the Bugatti.

Nothing says America quite like a C7 Corvette Stingray. We’ll leave you to decide what a C7 Corvette Stingray in an ugly lime green says specifically, but my guess is “lottery winner with questionable taste.”

Speculation is that this is Slingshot’s new model. Chevy is surely hoping this reveal does for the ‘Vette what Bumblebee did for yellow Camaros. You’ll be able to buy your very own Corvette Stingray in 2014. We're guessing lime green won't be the only option available.

Transformers 4 Optimus Prime

Finally, we move away from the sports cars and into the land of semis.

Optimus Prime is getting a new look too. The new Optimus features a flashy flame design on his blue body – which makes me think he belongs in another updating of Stephen King’s Maximum Overdrive (Green Goblin truck is still cooler…).

The new Optimus was custom designed by Western Star, a subsidiary of Daimler Trucks North America.

So, what do you guys think about these new pics? Are you more interested in Transformers 4 now that you see what kind of sweet rides the Autobots are? Burn rubber to the comment section and let the Internet know how you feel.
