Machete Kills / Heat : Sofia Vergara, Colombian TV show hostess turned sitcom star on ABC’s Modern Family, reveals a “killer” bra in a new poster for Robert Rodriguez’ all-star action flick Machete Kills, which is due out on September 13. Vergara is also in talks to star opposite Jason Statham in the somewhat more serious action movie Heat, which is a remake of a 1986 movie of the same name, featuring a script by the legendary William Goldman. Oz the Great and Powerful : Disney has so much confidence that Sam Raimi’s Oz the Great and Powerful will be a huge popular success that co-writer Mitchell Krapner was hired several months ago to begin scripting the next installment. The characters are drawn from L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, which is in the public domain, though certain iconic elements (like Dorothy’s ruby red slippers) that were invented for the classic 1939 version belong to Warner Bros. and cannot be used. After Earth Trailer: The first trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s After Earth set up the premise; Will Smith and his son Jaden Smith crash land on Earth, 1,000 years in the future, after humanity has abandoned the planet. A new trailer provides context for the father-son relationship, and reveals more of the dangers of the planet, where all animal and plant life has evolved to kill all signs of human life.
